We are taking a number of steps to enhance the health safety of the event for the participants, volunteers and staff, including:
We will make the pre race packet pickup a drive through packet pickup to minimize contact.
We will spread the porta potties out at the start/finish area and add sanitizing stations for people to use.
We will ask people to stay away from the starting area with their masks on until we call them up by their projected average pace (i.e. 7:00/mile, 8:00/mile). We will spread participants out at the start by putting small cones in the starting chute for the participants in each wave to stand at to keep them socially distanced from one another. Once participants start the race they can remove their masks.
We will set bottles of water out at the water station instead of cups of water and we will not hand participants their water, but will have them pick up their bottle instead if they so choose.
We will use bib chips rather than shoe chips so that we won't need volunteers to remove them after they complete the race. We won’t have any volunteers in the finish chute, but will instead provide grab and go bags for them to get their finishers medal, bottle of water and snack to reduce participant contact with volunteers. We will ask participants to wear their mask in the start/finish area after they finish.
We will text their times to the finishers who have signed up to receive them and will have a QR code on their bib numbers that will allow them to get their time with their smart phone after the race. We will not otherwise provide times at the race.
We will mail age group and overall awards to winners after the race to reduce the need for participants to hang around after the race.
